It's all about making your money work for you and your family by learning about money, debt and how to create wealth. Programme Content
Module 1: Money and Me
In this module, you will analyse your attitude towards money and how this affects your financial habits. You'll identify changes you would like to make that will help you to reach your life goals and aspirations. You will also identify factors which may impinge on your ability to reach those goals, and formulate strategies for managing change. |
Module 2: My Financial Plans
In this module, you will put plans in place to help reach your financial goals. You'll gain experience in budgeting, analysing spending against a budget, and making revisions where required. You will also look at methods for prioritising spending and planning for large expenditure. |
Module 3: Home Ownership and Debt Management
This module focuses on the uses and implications of personal debt. You'll look at forms of personal debt and strategies to reduce debt levels. The second half of the module looks at home ownership. This includes considerations involved in the decision to purchase a home and the process involved in making and financing the purchase. |
Module 4: Savings and Investments
This module will introduce you to the range of investment options available to save for retirement or achieve financial freedom. An important component of the module involves understanding the concept of diversification as well as the need to develop an investment portfolio that aligns with your personal risk profile. |
Module 5: Wealth Protection
In this final module, you will learn about how to protect your asset base. You'll consider the risks you face and identify ways to manage them. Key topics covered include insurances, trusts, and estate planning. Emphasis is also placed on the role of professional advisers in supporting wealth protection. |
Entry Criteria
- Be 16 years or older at the start of the programme;
- Be New Zealand citizen (or citizen of Australian, Tokelau, Niue, Cook Islands) or permanent residents;
- Meet the eligibility, suitability for admission, and external support criteria as outlined in the programmes pre-enrolment guidelines.
- Be committed to the hours required by the programme
- Attend an information session
Tuition and Resource Costs
There are NO tuition fees for Certificate of Money Management. This programme is available at no cost as long as you meet the entry criteria listed above.
